[Wellness] Livestrong Day on Capital Hill
Dear members,
I have sent posts to this list providing information on the Lance Armstrong
Foundation, the Survivor's Summit that I attended last Oct 06 and now I am
fullfilling my personal action plan from the summit. My major goal is to
become more of an advocate by joining LAF advocacy initiatives and also
informing you of these initiatives, what you can do, and events of note. I
think I already sent a post regarding joining the LAF army. Now I am
sending an opportunity to apply to go to Capitol Hill May 15 and 16 and
become part of this incredible army of yellow. From the homepage
www.livestrong.org Lance says, "From making your voice heard on capitol
hill to participating in and volunteering for events. We can't do it without
you.
Help the LAF make cancer a national priority. Be a part of LIVESTRONG Day
2007!"
BECOME PART OF THE TEAM: Go to the homepage listed above, where you can
also do more than join the army and click on join the team. The team you
are joining is determined. "It’s time for our nation to address our issues.
I’ve met with members of Congress and with the President and encouraged them
to listen to survivors, and to figure out ways to fix the problems that
survivors face in America. But they need to hear from you. Let’s tell our
stories and let them know about the issues we’ve seen that need to be fixed.
Together, we can help change things for the better. As a team, we can make
a difference for survivors." -Lance Armstrong
Once you have joined the team you can read about LIVESTRONG DAY 2007 and
apply to become one of the representatives from your state to join Lance and
lobby Capitol Hill. I did this with the Patient Advocate Foundation, who
also work with LAF, and it was such an empowering experience. Hope to see
you all on Capitol Hill in May.
My best for health, knowledge, patient power and as Lance says "Attitude is
Everything"
