I'm sorry to hear that you are facing this decision. 
My Mother died when I was 25 from breast cancer.  I was diagnosed 14 1/2 
yr. ago with advanced breast cancer in my left breast, 12/16 nodes 
positive.   I had a mastectomy, high dose chemo, a bmt and radiation as 
treatment. 

After that was complete and I was getting back to "normal": I had the 
other breast removed along with my ovaries.  Because of the chemo and 
bmt I couldn't have anymore kids and it just seemed like the right thing 
to do. 
My diagnosis' 15th anniversary will be in March, 2007.  I 've had no 
recurrence.

All I can say is that's my experience...............it's not a 
recommendation one way or the other.  Everyone has to make that decision 
on their own and make peace with it.
