[Wellness] Doctor gives up on me.
Dr. Paul Miller at the Bone Research Center in
Denver called yesterday to cancel my appointment. He is one of 10
doctors in the US who is being paid by the pharmaceutical company to do the
drug studies on women with Zometa.(It is currently not an approved drug for
osteo.) When I first went to see him, I couldn't be in the study because I
had already been overdosed with Zometa. So, I didn't sign any waivers
against lawsuits for damages. Evidently, my case created a conflict of
interest with the drug company. He must be making big money to do the
Zometa study. First he had a nurse call and leave a message on the
answering machine saying that he doesn't treat fractures. I called her
back to tell her that I wasn't coming for a fracture and that's when
she said I'm sorry...but he can't help you right now. (I could
tell she felt bad telling me the news.) We were shocked. He has
never taken an active role in my case, but did consult with my doctors in
GJ. He is a self proclaimed expert who writes books and does speaking all
over the country. The few times we did see him, he mainly talked about
himself and all his accomplishments. Needless to say, Mark and
I are pretty devastated. He was our last hope to find answers in
Colorado. I am going to post this on the Women's Wellness Site
next. If anyone has any suggestions for a University Hospital or
somewhere else we can seek help, we would be grateful. I am going to write
to the Mayo Clinic and any other places I can find on the internet that deals
with osteoporosis. At this point, we don't care about the class
action lawsuit. We just want find out if I have any other
options for treatment. Thanks for any suggestions. In the meantime,
I'm eating my greens and taking vitamins. Still am in the walker, so
can't do weight bearing exercises yet. Bunny
