[Wellness] Prescription is ironic
You may have received and read about my problems with the drug Neurontin
that is prescribed to treat my nerve damage due to radiation treatments.
Two weeks ago I was prescribed Lyrica and given samples of 75m to take for
two weeks and then switch to 150m. At the time I was given the sample I
read the patient information sheet that came with it. Then yesterday when I
picked up my prescription I read the patient prescription info from the
pharmacy. Here's the ironic part: Neurontin which caused so many problems
due to the need to keep increasing the dosage or suffer withdrawal effects
was approved to treat epilepsy and used also for nerve damage. My new drug
Lyrica which is approved for nerve damage is also used for epilepsy. It is
addictive and the amount most be carefully monitored or withdrawal effects
will occur!! Did I just jump from one burning pan into another?? Of course
my neurologist who knew nothing about the suicides due to the withdrawal
effects of Neurontin also did not mention or does not know about the
withdrawal effects of Lyrica, both from Pfizer Pharm.
Remember that knowledge is patient power and you need to empowered in all
aspects of your wellness. I'm not sure what I am going to do with this
knowledge. Today I start the larger dosage. The first week I did not
experience side effects but for the past few days I have been shaking and
feeling quite anxious. Maybe its better to just live with the pain.
My best for total wellness always,
