[Wellness] Update on Prescription aware/BEWARE

Good morning,

In my last posting I was sharing an experience, a very bad experience with
one of my prescriptions. I have been taking Neurontin for about five years
for nerve damage to my dominate arm during high dose radiation
(Brycatherapy--implanted isytopes for seven days) This is the source of my
disability. I had a relatively smooth week taking the drug every four hours
or sooner if needed. I do not like the side effects at this dosage level
mostly motor functioning, but I am not going to be carted off to a rubber
room. I called my doctor Monday morning to get an appointment. They said
it would be 30 days till I could get in. I said that was unacceptable for
what I was going through and they put me on with the nurse. I explained in
detail the problems I was having with dosage and she said she would get back
to me.

On Tuesday morning just as we are walking out the door for an overnight trip
another nurse calls and said to drop by the office and pick up something the
doctor prescribed. I could not get there until Wed afternoon and as we were
pulling in the parking lot of the medical center I said to my husband "I
know they are going to give me antideppressants." Sure enough there they
were and the receptionist who knows me got me an appointment for Monday.
Since I never saw the doctor I didn't know if this was a way to ween me off
this drug or if he thought I am nuts. Okay, I said well this could be his
plan and I will see him on Monday so I took one at night like prescribed.
By 3 AM I was vomitting and that continued to 12:30 the next day. I was
sick all over again.

In the meantime my sister in law points out to my husband that she has seen
a lot on law tv about this drug Neuronin with class action suits for
suicides and attempted suicides. The FDA is involved trying to place
warning labels on it. They say it is being prescribed for things that were
not approved by the FDA like in my case. The drug is approved to prevent
seizures. It works in my case because it stops the nerve pain like a
seizure but at this point I am having to take so much I am not happy.
Needless to say I did not take a second anti-depressant and will have a long
talk with him on Monday. I'll let you know how goes the battle.

My best in health and wellness,
