Re: [Wellness] (no subject)
Title: Re: [Wellness] (no subject)
Mary, Arimidex will save your uterus problems but you know they
are all potent drugs. The point of taking them is to reduce our risk
of recurrence if we've had an estrogen-receptive cancer. I suggest
trying the Armidex...several I know have been happier taking it.

I have two
questions relating to the side effects of
tamoxifen:
Three years
ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, had a mastectomy, and have
been on tamoxifen ever since. Several months ago I noticed
blurring vision so went to the eye doctor. He diagnosed the
beginning of cataracts. When I asked him about the connection to
tamoxifen, he told me to ask my doctor. A few weeks later, at my
yearly check-up with my surgeon, I discussed it with him. He was
concerned and immediately set up an appointment for me with a new
oncologist to discuss changing medication. When I asked the
oncologist if that would reverse or slow the development of cataracts,
his answer was basically 'yes, no, and maybe.' Has anyone else
encountered this situation? He prescribed Arimidex instead but
after reading about it, I don't feel comfortable taking it. I'm
strongly considering stopping all of the
medications.
My second
question regards my 74 year old aunt who completed her course of
treatment with tamoxifen three years ago. She has recently
begun experiencing vaginal bleeding. Since endometrial cancer is
a possible side effect of tamoxifen, I'm wondering if there is a carry
over after treatment is complete. Anyone know anything about
that?
