Karen's High Dose Chemo Diary

Today I find myself preparing for high dose chemotherapy.  I find myself doing this at two levels. Literally, packing and making lists, informing Harry and my sister, Lynn about the household management realms that fall under my domain. Spending quality time with my family and cooking in my kitchen.  I will miss this a lot. Luckily, food will not matter much shortly.  Also, physiologically, preparing my mind and spirit.  I have received so many kind notes of encouragement.  You all make me feel stronger than I think I am which helps my attitude.  I am preparing my visualization scenarios.  In one I will design my dream one room cottage on a lake and in the other my beach homecoming when I am well enough for the first Sunday Beach Gathering.  We have a group of wonderful families who all share Sunday afternoons together on the beach through the season which will begin in March usually.  Most Sundays we can be found in a pack to the left of the beach stairs.  Its great family fun and something to look forward to.  Thanks Julie, for that idea.

I will be admitted Wednesday and released Monday to the Hampton Inn  Hillendale Rd.  Durham, NC.  Harry will be staying with me until that Friday and then Lynn and he will switch places.  It sounds like I will be sedated through most of the hospitalization so you will basically hear from Harry.  I will post again as soon as I feel able.  Please know how much I appreciate your kind thoughts.  Remember to also help each other while I'm gone.  This is a forum for all women and all questions.  Tell your friends.  Get them to submit their email address to the list.  Nothing would please me more than to have this list become very active and not just about me.
