I paced, shopped, paced, watched TV and paced most of the day, waiting for 4:00PM when Karen's treatment was over and I would be able to see her again. I met Dr. Chao on his way from the clinic to the hospital (the hotel is in between) and we chatted about the Internet on the way to the hospital and up to the 9200 wing. I walked in to find Karen awake, smiling and talkative. Her nurse said she had done real well and in fact had a visitor before me. Glenda, a women from Karen's support group in Beaufort, had stopped in while she was up to talk about possible HDC for herself. Hopefully she was pleased to see how good Karen was doing and relieved some of the anxiety she must be going through.
It was good to see her doing so well. We made a few quick calls to our boy (wasn't he cute), her sister Lynn who has been with Drew, her mother in Rhode Island and my parents in New Jersey. She's resting now and down to just one IV of Heparin to reduce the chance of clotting. She is allowed to get up and walk around the ninth floor, but I think she will probably leave that till tomorrow and simply get some sleep after a long day, but with her you never know. Tomorrow we will check in to the Hampton where she will spend the next 2-3 weeks.
Thanks for all your support,
